Spring 3 on 3

BVHS has partnered with Morgan Hockey Development to offer a Spring 3 on 3 Pond Hockey League. The 3 on 3 Pond Hockey League provides players with an opportunity to stay on their skates during the Spring months April - June. By playing 3 on 3 Pond Hockey, players are given the opportunity to work on their skating and puck handling abilities in an atmosphere that allows for individual growth. With fewer players on the ice, players are given more puck touches which ultmiately increases their stickhandling and puck control skills. The end to end transitions allows players the opportunity to increase their overall skating abilities.

The BV 3 on 3 Pond Hockey League allows players the opportunity to play other sports, and by doing such, we are following the Canadian Sport for Life's Long Term Athlete Development Model. This model focuses on an athlete first approach. For more information on the LTAD please click here.

Each ice session will consist of 30 minutes of skill development and 45 minutes of 3 on 3 Pond Hockey. Each Timbits team will consist of 12 skaters.  For the Novice - Pee Wee/Bantam Age Groups each team will consist of 12 skaters and 1 goalie. We do our best to split the kids up evenly among all teams, and if player swaps are needed, we will make some swaps part way through the program to ensure all teams are equal.

For the 2018 Spring Season the Timbits Age Group will play 3 on 3 on Half Ice.

The Novice, Atom and PW-Bantam Groups will play 3 on 3 on Full Ice.

Please note this program consists of players with a variety of skill sets and we will split the teams evenly and do our best to ensure players play against other players with similiar skill sets.

On Ice Sessions

The on ice sessions focus on the fundamentals; power skating, edge control, puck handling, stick handling, small area games and shooting. The ice sessions will have a balance of both full ice and station based drills providing a balance that allows for repetition leading to increased skill acquisition. For the Timbits and Novice Age Groups the majority of the drills will be station based. Full ice will be used for the Timbits and Novice Age Groups for some of the power skating drills.

Off Ice Sessions

For each age group there will be 7 off ice sessions offered. These off ice conditioning sessions will focus on the ABC'S, agility, balance, coordination and speed. Each of these sessions will be tailored towards age specific drills. We are working on the total athlete, and by focusing on a variety of off ice drills, we will see better on ice results.

The Spring 3 on 3 Pond Hockey League will be instructed by experienced instructors who have the knowledge, passion and abilities to effectively and efficiently teach your son or daughter.  BVHS guarantees a 1 to 6 ratio for instructors to participants, which ensures your son or daughter is receiving ample instruction and feedback for each on and off ice session.
