Hockey Calgary U9 Development League
BVHS follows the Guidelines outlined by Hockey Calgary in the U9 Development League Manual.
Hockey Equipment

If you are new to hockey, please click here to learn how to put the equipment on.
Hockey Sticks should be cut off between the players chin and nose while on skates. Tape should be put on both the butt end and blade of the stick.
Skates should be sharpened prior to the first ice time. Skates out of the box are not sharp, they need to be sharpened.
BVHS Evaluations Policy and Guidelines
BVHS is committed to providing players an opportunity to grow as individuals and gain self-esteem through a positive hockey experience that emphasizes fun, participation, development, safety, and respect.
There are no Grievances in the U9 age category.
U9 Pathway Sessions
The U9 Pathway Sessions provide players with the opportunity to take part in two development sessions run by BVHS Coaches prior to taking part in the Skills Session # 1. These sessions are 100% optional to attend.
Skills Testing Information
U9 age group will do the following drills for skills testing:
- Transition Skate without Puck
- 75 Foot Skate Forwards with Puck
- 75 Foot Skate Forwards without Puck
- 75 Foot Skate Backwards without Puck
- Agility Weave without Puck
Schedule
BVHS Sock, Jersey Deposit and Volunteer Bond Cheque Deposit will take place at the time that players sign in for their Skills Testing Sessions.
Please note these schedules may change depending on registration numbers and the current situation regarding COVID 19.
Pertinent Information Regarding Evaluations
The BVHS website will be updated each night by 12:00am. It is your responsibility to check the website to confirm your child's ice times for their next session. We will be posting the Evaluation Groupings on the website.
Conditioning Skates- There are no conditioning skates.
Skills Session # 1, # 2, # 3- Players will participate in timed drills to evaluate skills such as skating and puck handling.
Session # 4 - Cascade Skates- These skates provide players with the opportunity to move up or down based on their on ice performance. Players are permitted to be on ice for up to two hours and parents should plan accordingly.
Groupings
Parents will receive an email prior to August 25, 2020 outlining their child's Group # for the Pathways Sessions and Skills Session # 1.

Final Placements and Coach Selections
The teams will be finalized on September XX, 2020.
Coaches will be selected and contacted on or before September XX, 2020.
Players will be contacted by their respective Head Coaches on or before September XX, 2020.
First practices could start as early as September XX, 2020
Coach and Manager meeting will be September XX, 2020 XX to XX pm at Trico
Team meetings will be September XX, 2020
